National Technology Day

The India notices its National Technology Day on eleventh May each year. 

Main key points 

About: 

The day, which was first seen on eleventh May, 1999, intends to honor the logical and innovative accomplishments of Indian researchers, engineers. 

The day was named by the previous Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. 

Consistently, the Technology Development Board of India commends the day by granting people with the National Award for their commitment to science and innovation in India. 

Innovation Development Board is a legal group of Government of India working under the Department of Science of Technology. 

It provides monetary help to Indian mechanical concerns and different organizations, for commercialization of indigenized technology or adaptation of imported advances for more wider domestic applications.

Significance  
It is the day India successfully tested atomic bombs in Pokhran on eleventh May, 1998.
 
India effectively test-terminated its Shakti-1 atomic rocket in an activity called Pokhran-II, additionally codenamed as Operation Shakti which was driven by late president Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.
 
The atomic rocket was tried at the Indian Army's Pokhran Test Range in Rajasthan. This was the second test which was directed after Pokhran-I codenamed Operation Smiling Buddha, in May 1974. 

Around the same time, India played out a fruitful test terminating of the Trishul Missile (surface to air short reach rocket) and had test fled native airplane – 'Hansa – 3'.
